The IPS are absolutely thrilled to announce collaborative working with Sodexo and (Tork) Essity- to bring to you this new and  exciting educational pillar, ECD (Environment, Cleaning and Decontamination).

As infection prevention practitioners we are well educated in matters such as outbreak management or routes of transmission but the availability of knowledge sharing and learning in such areas as ventilation, safe water management and decontamination is limited. Masters in IPC don’t have time in the curriculum to look at topics like this and IPC specialists have to learn ‘on the job’.

At IPS, we recognise that we need to support our IPC practitioners to have the fundamental knowledge of maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, or staff regardless of what healthcare setting they work in.

Our inaugural event was on 23^rd November 2021, a day of speakers who are experts in their field. We are planning ongoing annual conferences that builds upon the sessions from the opening event and the hope is to also have online focussed topic seminars during the year.
